The spa center
The Terme San Giovanni is located in the inland part of the Gulf of Portoferraio, where salt pans once existed. Set in the wonderful context of the Gulf of Portoferraio, the San Giovanni spa draws water from a basin connected to the facility built in 1963 in front of the Medici Dockyard. The center is surrounded by a vast park and is immersed in greenery, creating a relaxing atmosphere for guests. The scents of eucalyptus, palms, and tamarisk trees contribute to an unparalleled sensory experience. Terme San Giovanni utilizes therapeutic mud with high potential, which is the distinctive characteristic of the various treatments offered at the facility. Within the center, you can access the Thermarium, which includes a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, a whirlpool pool, an emotional shower, two relaxation areas, and a corner for herbal tea tasting. Furthermore, the Salt Room provides all the benefits equivalent to spending three days by the sea in a single session.
Properties of the waters
The waters of Terme San Giovanni have a salt-bromine-iodine composition and emerge from the basin at an ambient temperature of approximately 24°C. They are ideal for treating skin and respiratory conditions due to the presence of highly valuable trace elements in their composition.
Treatments
Terme San Giovanni offers various treatments that can also be covered by agreements with the National Health Service. These include mud therapy, baths, inhalation treatments, and specialized therapies performed by highly qualified professionals. The spa facility also provides access to a physiotherapy and rehabilitation center, where state-of-the-art equipment is used under the supervision of highly skilled medical personnel. With a dedicated medical staff available, it is possible to book specialized consultations in fields such as otorhinolaryngology, orthopedics, and aesthetic medicine. For those who simply want to focus on their well-being without the need for specialized therapies, there are numerous aesthetic and relaxation treatments offered by the center. In addition to agreements with the National Health Service, the facility also offers agreements with the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL). This provides customers with more opportunities to access rehabilitation treatments and physical therapies at an affordable price.
Accommodation
Adjacent to the spa center is the Terme Isola d’Elba residence, consisting of twelve apartments of various types, from studios to three-room units. These units are located in a fully renovated ancient farmhouse just 150 meters from the sea.
Day Spa
The Day Spa treatments focus primarily on aesthetics, particularly in preparation for tanning, exfoliation, and decongestant leg massages. Individual treatments cost around 100 euros for two massages, but cumulative packages are available, offering significant savings.
Opening hours
The Thermarium and wellness center are open year-round from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 1 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm. On Saturdays, they close at 2 pm. The therapeutic thermal department is only open during the summer, with hours in line with the rest of the facility.

The spa is located in the inland area of the Gulf of Portoferraio and can be reached by sea.
From the port of Piombino, you need to take the appropriate ferry to Portoferraio.
